That shit was done by the league. They needed to kickstart the Lakers with a young superstar for the sake of the league before LeBron and AD started to set them back and tyhe mavericks were compensated with Cooper Flagg. Nico was just a fall guy nothing more nothing less.

The Lakers doing well in the west and NY doing well in the east is what them being the biggest markets in the US demands. Especially with numbers down over the last few years. If they can't do it themselves and the other teams in those markets can't rise to the occasion the league gonna step in and do it for them.

This shit WWE status the next couple years imo. These teams been fucking up and needed to be reeled in.

Sarr didnt want to go to Atlanta though, wouldn't even workout for them.....of course The Hawks could've told him to fuck off and drafted him anyway but I understand teams not want to go that route

Word word I was just looking at a thread for AD trade places last night and somebody suggested Luka to the Mavs as a joke and it really drove home how lopsided that trade was lol

But if I remember he didn’t want to be in the position Risacher is in now

I think they would’ve made a concerted effort to feature him and really sell him on the idea

Plus with Sarr already playing in Atlanta with OTE before I woulda told him to STFU and drafted him anyways

I wasn't mad at it for the mavs at the time but kyrie and lively losing a year has made it look worst than it actually is. Nico would most likely still have his job if those 2 weren't injured. Bad luck really imo. That wasn't part of the plan.

Didn't realize he was playing in Atlanta before that. He must have fucking hated it there lol.

I feel you, I would've too....Take the talent and figure it out later

Atlanta was a weird situation, not a typical terrible team with limited talent drafting number 1 so it can be awkward being taken that high but having multiple players who are better than you and the team is trying to be competitive

Thats why I thought it was such a good fit for Risachers skillset, can just slide in and be a high level role player

I believe he will be a good starter on a good team eventually though

Yeah he can develop at a steady pace but at the same time his development is going to be wonky due to being the 5th best player at best over there
