I convinced my sister to watch the showCurrently watching the og movie from the 90's. The joint they gave me many nightmares as a kid. That made me side eye clowns. Haven't watched this since as a young teen at best? Watching with adults eyes as the first time. This is a tough watch, lol. They skipped on character building. This shit was rushed. One of the few times where the remake is way better.
Oh this is fascinatingAlso comparing the book to the show, I dont think the show or movies explained the deadlights and the physical body of IT correctly. Or maybe they chose to do it their own way in the show and movies. Not mad at it.
The deadlights, ITs true form, stays in the macroverse. When it takes a physical form, it has to obey the laws of that form. When it takes a physical form, it also takes in some of the weaknesses. That includes pain and fear. IT never really had to plan until IT met the loser club. I think that part should have been explained a little bit better in the show or movies.
Just finished rewatching "IT Chapter 2". Now I have fresh memories of the movies, show, and book.
In the 2017 movie, they did mention that IT has to obey the laws of whatever form it takes. What they didnt mention at all is that IT is trapped in Derry, but the show does. The movie also never mentioned the shards in the movie. They killed IT physically. So it seems they just added that for a big plot in the show. I also wish they had Bill's wife go to Derry, like they did in the book and 90's movie. Pennywise kidnapped her and used her as bait. That showed that IT, had to plan for the first time in it's existence because it felt fear and pain for the first time. It feared it could actually die.
I think the 90's movie was a little bit more true to the book than the 2017 movie. To a certain degree.
Spoiler for book:
In the book, IT never left Derry because it didnt like change or surprise. Derry was it's kill pin and the people were cattle. It just wants to sleep and eat.
The book ending was much sadder than any of the movie endings. After they defeated IT, the downtown part of Derry collapsed. IT lived under downtown Derry. Killed many people as the city halfway sunk into the ground. Also, after the final battle as adults, the Losers lost their memory of all of it over time, including their friendship of each other. The words in Mike's journal was erasing it's self.
Leaving out the turtle in the movies wasnt a big deal. He had like 15 sentences in the whole book. Only thing he did was give Bill a tip on how to use the ritual . There was another unknown being helping the Losers. That is what Pennywise really feared. This "Another" is suspected of creating the turtle but existed outside of even the macroverse. The being used the kids as agents and gave them "powers" to fight IT. Turning regular tools, like Eddie's inhaler, into something that could hurt IT, as long as they believed it to be true.
Lol, that was the main plot in the show. The natives used the shards to keep Pennywise contained in that area.I thought IT just stayed there because it was a buffet? IT's trapped?
