Nah man, back in the 80s, 90s, hell 70s, niggas used to put on music to so call 'set the mood' for what? To fight? no, to knock down the women

It's a reason niggas put on Luther or a Marvin instead of an Ice Cube when trying to smash a chick. Got to get her in the mood, "To do what" smash

Feelings = Action
bruh there was a whole summer i was listening to the temptations greatest hits like every day...and i'm pretty sure i was celibate and doing a whole lotta savage shit

i love that song, that base line is everything. but you know one thing i never think about when i hear that song? my punk ass father....

in fact i used to always think it would be ill if they played "i'm gonna make you love me" during a domestic violence scene in a movie....something about that song always sounded mad possessive to me. but its still a dope song. i just put it on in the office

you don't necessarily gotta do sumn

but certain sounds & frequencies can invoke a feeling

like when you listen to Beanie Sigel "Nothing Like It", you don't feel anything?

& I've seen you defend Beanie multiple times on this board, so I kno his music makes you feel sum type of way

eh.....not really. as much as i like beans, i'm not always in the mood to hear beans..

the most that song does for me is reminds me of the time i had that shit as my ringtone

Wasn't the dude who sung the song actually had thoughts of his father while singing the song, I cannot quite recall what happened during the session.

Yea man, that's a crazy insert of a song during that time lol.

Speaking of which and it may be a thread of its own, has any song made you go out and do something?

I heard Atomic Dog by Parliment/George Clinton one day and got out at the red light and started hopping, I aint a que but the song made me do it, I aint throw a hook up or anything up, but I did hop or two

look, i don't want yall to get the wrong idea about me. I love music. all kinds of music.

i started playing trumpet in 3rd grade, i've played concert band, jazz band, marching band..

i think this is simply one of the hardest trombone solo's i've ever heard in my life....

the skill level, the sound, all of it is amazing, and it does make me wish i was there to hear it live, i guess if i feel anything it's pride in my people that someone could do something so dope....it does make me smile. but it's not like if i was already angry playing this would calm me down...

i'd be like "nobody wanna hear this shit right now"

They go hand and hand, if one hears a love song by Marvin Gaye, a man might wanna do something for his lady, that song/lyrics motivated him to make that move.

Things work hand and hand.

A song may put you in the move to hop in your car and just ride out....the feeling sparks the action of a person in some cases

Exactly. It might make you want to do something but it's not actually making you do it. And those actions are a conscious choices to go through with. Music doesn't hypnotize you. It doesn't remove your ability to think for yourself. If it does then you got a problem.

bruh

it's not about bein in the mood

we're all humans (except for @Bender Rodriguez), we have feelings

be it happy, sad, sorrow, fear, joy, pain, pleasure, etc.

"ehh.....not really"

says that you still do feel sumn, no matter how miniscule you try to make it

cuz if it didn't make you feel anything one way or another it would've been empathetically "no"

absolutes are dangerous.

i said not really bcuz ii consider myself a self-aware person and it's nothing that iive notice in my self that really supports that feeling the way yall describing it. i love music. i've just never found it dictating the way i feel, or changing my mood

I got one for you du,

When you went to parties/clubs/ social gatherings, Could the DJ or person playing the songs, put on a song that would make you dance?

When Back that Ass Up came on, what did you do lol? or better yet what did the chicks do?

But you in a way admitted it can reinforce tje way you feel because you'll avoid certain songs if you're in a certain mood.
