I'm off, but I'm not celebrating. Maybe I'm the confused one though. If I truly acknowledged this day, there would be violence. I have to be the one confused because I don't see what there is to celebrate; the law said free these people. Other people said fuck your law for years, until the law was finally enforced. Today we celebrate white people making other white people obey the law to not murder, rape, and enslave Black people. We celebrate this...

Not that simple. Yes emancipation proclamation ended slavery in rebelling states in 1863 but they were rebelling so wasn’t like they just let the slaves go. Slaves were really free in 1865 and I think Texas found out later in the year hence Juneteenth.

It wasn’t like Texas ended slavery 20 years later
