Not playing the bench until game 3 of the ECF and he was outcoached by Rick. We lost in less games to this Pacers than last season. Thibs looked legitimately confused and unsure it was time. What is it exactly in your opinion that thibs did to get fired and what could he have done differently? Genuinely asking not trying to argue.
Not calling enough timeouts and finding a way to not lose a 15 point lead in 3 mins. I get it's the players fault just as much as Thibs, but he could have done more to stop the bleeding, even if it meant to hard foul Nesmith when he caught the ball to cool him down. Also tried to challenge something useless in the 2nd quarter which meant he couldn't challenge a clear goal tending call the refs didn't call in OT that would have given the Knicks the win. What is it exactly in your opinion that thibs did to get fired and what could he have done differently? What bench tho lol? Those niggas are unplayable. Then bench was the main difference between knicks and pacers. All the pacers bench guys produce. You guys didn't stand a chance against them as built and are selling them short imo.Not playing the bench until game 3 of the ECF and he was outcoached by Rick. Respect for the response. Not calling enough timeouts and finding a way to not lose a 15 point lead in 3 mins. In game 3 in a must win, he sat Brunson way too long in the 4th quarter but particularly in the last 3 mins of the game. Knicks had an 8 point lead but Pacers were getting momentum, he got Brunson up to the scorers table with 3 mins to go but didn't call a time out to get him in the game. Brunson got in at like the 1:50 after a dead ball and the Pacers cut it to 2. Lucky for him brunson quickly hit back to back floaters and closed the game
Starting in game 3, he started playing the bench alot more but his rotations were horrible. What killed him is the fact that the bench minutes were super effective from game 3 on, showing that he could have played but the bench all season instead of running players to the ground.
His rotations starting with game 3 were horrible. Shamet was killing anytime he was in, but Delon Wright was getting minutes over him. Worst was he started sitting both Brunson and KAT for the last 3 mins of the 3rd quarters starting with game 3. Logic says either one or the other should be playing at all times. We lost those minutes almost every game.
The team started each 3rd quarter like shit. Usually that's on the coach.
The drop coverage instead of fighting over screens killed is. No adjustments were made until game 5.
Haliburton killed us, we only started sending doubles his way anytime he had the ball at half court to make him give it up starting with game 5. This was mad effective. Even in game 6, even though Hali looks like he had a good scoring game, he only had like 8 points going into the 4th quarter and got most of his points once the Knicks were down 15. This was a easy ass adjustment to be made, but he didn't make it till game 5.
Thats just from the conference finals. I won't go into the season.
Again, I'm always gonna love Thibs for the turn around. He was the best coach my team ever had. But they fucked him over after trading for KAT. At this point the only thing to do is let him go and bring in a guy who can maximize these players.
Doesn’t happen muchSerious question
How many times does a coach get fired and then we look back and say it was a bad decision or they regret it?
Wright, Shamet, and Deuce actually playing in game 3 gave some starters enough of a break to actually finish the game with energy. Wright unlike Cam showed good defense and a steady hand when Brunson was on the bench. Shamet supplied energy and needed 3 point shooting. What bench tho lol? Those niggas are unplayable. Then bench was the main difference between knicks and pacers. All the pacers bench guys produce. You guys didn't stand a chance against them as built and are selling them short imo.
