"Here’s what DEI actually means

From a HR Leader...

Some of what DEI is:

-ramps and sidewalk curb cuts
-subtitles & captions (TV & phone)
-family restrooms
-changing tables in men’s restrooms
-breast feeding/pumping stations & accommodations
-floating paid holidays
-pay equity & transparency
-parental leave (time & pay)
-coming back to a job after birthing a child
-not having to just accept workplace harassment
-work accommodations for a variety of disabilities
-flexible work arrangements
-size inclusive chairs and beds in medical facilities
-belt extenders on planes
-various food options for vegetarians/vegans/kosher/gluten-free/etc at medical facilities
-non smoking areas/end of smoking indoors
-being able to have medical professionals and your coworkers use your preferred name (not just queer people have those)
-wellness programs and incentives
-more relaxed & inclusive dress code policies
-rooms to pray/meditate at work & other public places
-employee recognition programs
-employee/network resource groups
-large print materials
-materials in different languages
-multiple religious options at hospitals
-accessible bikes and public transit accommodations
-businesses not becoming fully cashless
-company-covered mental/behavioral health resources

Some of What DEI isn’t:

-hiring an under qualified person for a job just because they’re a person of color
-hiring based on race just to meet diversity goals (this is illegal)
-a new fad or buzz word. DEI work has been going on for many many years, under different names"
If they're working on removing DEI and smoking areas are considered DEI...

They really going to allow people to smoke inside the company buildings now?? Lol

Apparently you're screwed if you don't have 20/20 vision too lol

Crockett is a real one. Sometimes I wonder how she got elected.
She got elected mainly because of black people(We are the largest demographic in her district)

Going off the majority sentiments toward her and Trump in this thread vs how people voted in her district, it’s nearly a match

I made a statement before about her trying to go viral all the time and not knowing much about her politics, but from what I’ve seen so far she seems to be on the right track.

I still don’t like everybody racing to the bottom with their rhetoric, as she did when she said Elon can fuck off, but I guess that’s just where we are now. I thought she could have taken that opportunity to speak substantively to the issues but people don’t want to hear shit like that anymore.

And thats the thing bout giving the stage to conservatives they distort, lie redefine things and lead narrative that shit takes root and grows weeds.. there arent many fighters on the other side of the aisle they are usually marginalized and made to be outcast... and the vast majority of them aint white..

Look what they did with affirmative action. Tricked those Asian folks into being against it and now their kids still being denied entry into those colleges they thought they'd get into without affirmative action being a thing.

I think speaking in a way where you are using every day terms and not what amounts to legalese helps actually. Most people ain't doing deep dives on these bills and things being proposed and passed. So breaking things down to its simplest form helps. And that is even how you communicate. A simple "fuck off" can be stronger than a long drawn out explanation of what she thinks about him.

Majority of the USA including a lot of us here was fighting for DEI because they thought it affected black folks the most in the job market.
As others have mentioned, I just don’t like that they say they hate DEI and draw a parallel between it and black people.

And DEI policies may help others, maybe even disproportionately, but it also helps black people, and that’s the only reason I’m cool with it.

I think what people need to come to terms with is that anything done for any 1 group of people in this country will, at least by law, have to in some way include or be open to including an outside group. And because Black folks are not a majority in this country any policy made to help us will inevitably also help others too. And deciding if having an all or nothing pov helps or hurts

The “by law” part is the key. You can’t create a law that is for or against any group of US citizens. In practice we know that doesn’t happen, and there are ways around it, but that will always be the argument used to opposed anything for black people only.

You have to understand what this cracks said to grasp what America is all about.....

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

Lyndon B. Johnson.

Once you understand this then you can understand the mind of a white. They're cool until they're NOT the main character or if second place characters are about to win the race or get to close to tieing.

Supreme Court has made it easier to sue for reverse racism.

It's not funny but when you read the article it's clear that this broad just sucked at her job and happened to get surpassed by a lesbian and a gay fella. Probably mad straight honkies passed her up as well.

LMAO @ getting demoted. Who does that?
