The 4,5,6 race in the East is very interesting to me

I think 1-3 is pretty much a lock and 7 and anything after that isn't making a jump

Pacers, Bucks and Pistons are all within 2 games of each other

2 of the 3 going to play each other and the remaining one gets NY in the first round

I think we gave ourselves enough of a cushion to not fall into the play-in tournament as long we don't have some epic collapse to end the season

Right now we're 5th with a 4.5 game lead over 7th...plus we have the tiebreaker with The Clippers, Mavs and Wolves I believe....or maybe we split with the Wolves

Either way if we can get Fred back and string together a few wins we'll be fine....we still have one of the easier schedules to end the season

The good news imo is everything you said we knew coming into the season...

We knew the depth was limited
We knew Mitch was injury prone
We knew good teams were going to attack Brunson and Towns
We knew the Knicks were going to have a top 5 offense


This season is pretty much playing out exactly how you would've expected but like you said this was never the final form of this team, it was still about evaluating and seeing what works and what doesn't

That's what led me to the Thibs situation...I think it might be a case of a coach doing a good job establishing a team and giving them credibility but someone else has to take them to the next level

With Thibs, it's just time.

This team shouldn't have an offense this stagnant imo. When you got Brunson who is one of the best iso players in the league and shoots 40% from 3 with most shots off the dribble, and you got KAT who can do anything on the court on offense at 7 feet tall, and then you got Mikail and OG who both have lead the league shooting the corner 3, the offense should be way more free flowing and creative.

With Thibs though, he's always been and still on some shit like put the ball in my best players hand and let them figure it out, long as they playing hard, he don't care.

It kills me when Brunson bricks a bunch of shots late and KAT is hot, that Brunson still plays hero ball late into the clock or on game winning/tying shots. Don't get me wrong, Brunson one of the crutches players in the league but everyone knows what the Knicks will do late even with KAT being super hot and it becomes easy to defend. These are the things I'm tired of seeing and these won't ever improve under a Thibs led team.

But Thibs does deserve credit for turning things around on the team. He did exactly what Thibs does, which is get to team, turn them around and make them successful, but his style of coaching always has a ceiling and it looks like we're at the ceiling now.

I do hope I'm proven wrong. If he gets this team to the ECF, even if they lose, then he gets to take another crack at it next year.

I don't have ECF hopes, but if they get hot at the right time, there's definelty fire power to make it happen.

Spo or anyone that can look at the offensive power on this team and make it creative.

We def missing another ball handler so I'm not saying we should have the best looking offense on the league, but with Brunson and KAT on ball and Mikail and OG on either corner where they both deadly, the offense shouldn't be Brunson catch it on the perimeter and do something and then KAT catch it on the perimeter and do something.
 
I don't mfers to think I'm disappointed or hating on the Knicks btw. After watching trash for 20+ year outside 1 or 2 Melo years, I'm enjoying the fuck out this run, and even if we lose in the 2nd round again, I'll be disappointed but not on some yo burn it to the ground shit.

This is still super fun and luckily all core players are still under 30, and can either play here or have good trade value. So we good. But this year does feel like a tiny step back until we get a big next to KAT who can cover for his mistakes but also isn't gonna be taken off the court for shooting 35% on fts

I think this Knicks team isn't as good as last year's team right after the OG trade and Iharts emergence after Mitch's injury.

I know the big domino that fell was IHart leaving and we had no control over that. Knicks couldnt pay him under any circumstance and I understand why he left.

That and Mitch being injured then made us desperate for a big man and we destroyed depth to get the worst defensive big man in the game.

I would have loved giving last year's team a chance before making major move but oh well.

KAT so far has definitely made us a better team but it's just disheartening to watch good teams switch on him or Brunson every time and knowing how that's gonna happen every game in the playoffs.

This still isn't our final form though. Mitch comes back soon and that not only significantly improves rim protection but it automatically makes OG and Bridges defend to their full capacity. The team will still have issues, cause Mitch gonna be exposed on the other end, but I expect it to look so much better with him back

Mikal being so shook to drive into the paint, Thibs using him as more of a point of attack defender, while Deuce is better at that OG being wild bitchmade and can't dribble also is alarming.

I won't allow any OG slander man. He is def a flawed player, but everything he does on the court directly impacts winning. Moreso with Mitch coming back.

But he not a bigger role type player. Just take your 200 mil and continue getting us these wins doing all the dirty work type player.

His impact on winning crazy.

In the offseason we'll trade Mikail and filler for KD, but I don't wanna see OG go anywhere
