This song was clearly made to accompany the visuals

Its more "art" than music

I'm so happy for Gambino man. Tbh ALL of his videos are creative and deep as hell and it doesn't get the recongition it deserves. Hell , I can recall on the IC I was telling everyone how Because the Internet was one of the most creative albums of the decade and how crazy it's overlooked. If people knew how much symbolism, messages, themes, and predictions he made with that album it would get more cred. Dude had a whole script to go along with it.

What’s the purpose of this video though? Like who’s it for?

I see a lot of Donald is doing what Kanye ain’t takes. I’m just wondering what that is. Taking nothing away from the video, one has nothing to do with the other. This story has been told already. The nigga people trying to down has told the story 100 times and better.

Just seems like a period piece to me. Donald is a dope storyteller and this is great art. I’m tired of the victim storyline though. We watch it, rave about it for a week and move on.

One perspective i saw based on the opening scene and the video was a deterioration of music as a whole. The track starts with the man playing the acoustic guitar and other instruments in the background.

He shoots him then jumps straight into the "buck dancin" and the beat switches up with less of a authentic feel sonically.

It's a emphasis on the rawness of the message, also to make you feel uncomfortable and uneasy, why it's his attempt to be free and expressive ironically.
