It was still bullshit to give away Melos number to anyone. There was no ring, and there was turmoil, but Melo made them a perennial playoff team and made the Nuggets matter in the publics consciousness for a decade.

He deserved to get his number retired.

Imo, Nuggets felt they would give his number to some 2nd round pick who wouldnt be shit to piss him off before bringing him back and retiring his number when he retired.

Jokic then turned out to be an alltimer and now they need to get creative to figure out how to honor Melo.

And again they gave his number to Anthony Randolph first why does everybody ignore this? Is it because then their argument would be even weaker?

Im not having a Melo debate man.

My point is that there is precedence league wide for Melo to have his number retired by the Nuggets.

I wont debate was he good or was he good enough. My only thing here is that there are players who have had way worse careers on a team that get their jersey retired.

And I never blamed Jokic. I actually said it my opinion that the Nuggets planned to eventually retire Melos number. They wanted to piss him off by letting mfers like Anthony Randolph and a 2nd rounder they just drafted wear his number not thinking they would be legendary.

It turned out that 2nd rounder became an all time center and now they look crazy.

Now go and tell me what Hardaway did in his 5 years with the Heat thatvdeserved his jersey to be retired that Melo didnt do in his 10 years with the Nuggets.

The nuggets might think it’s not worth retiring while the bucks might retire khris middleton’s jersey lol

Rockets retired Yao Ming’s jersey

If Yao did the same shit on the Celtics they would tell him to fuck off
 
If the nuggets don’t fuck with Melo with how he left then that’s their right

Maybe if he won something they would still do it but since he was an underachiever then there’s no forced hand

My point remains, there is strong precedence on why Melos number should be retired across the league.

Way lesser jerseys been retired. To sit here and say he dont deserve it is disingenous.

Now if you say, well maybe the Nuggets have a stronger requirement to retire a jersey than the rest of the league, then ill agree with you and say thats on them.
