14 first round picks in the 2023 draft have been assigned to G League so far

Idk maybe they need to update the draft

Maybe hold it every couple of years idk

Nigga forced his way out of Denver, why would they stop anyone from wearing his number

That's the first thing

Second, Denver might've picked joker thinking he was going to be a decent prospect but ain't no way they knew he was going to be this great to the point they give him 15 to "erase" what melo did.

Melo just needs to enjoy the good times there and stfu

When the team is done with a player it’s just business. When a player is done with the team it’s “sElFiSh”

It didn’t matter what Jokic ended up becoming Melo’s point still stands. In an alternate universe Jokic is already out of the league and is back in Europe playing and it still wouldn’t change Melo’s point.

They didnt give Jokic Melos number specifically intending Jokic to erase Melos accomplishments.

It was still bullshit to give away Melos number to anyone. There was no ring, and there was turmoil, but Melo made them a perennial playoff team and made the Nuggets matter in the publics consciousness for a decade.

He deserved to get his number retired.

Imo, Nuggets felt they would give his number to some 2nd round pick who wouldnt be shit to piss him off before bringing him back and retiring his number when he retired.

Jokic then turned out to be an alltimer and now they need to get creative to figure out how to honor Melo.

What did Carmelo do to have his number retired? Just because you made the playoffs a few times doesn't mean your number should be in a team's rafters.
Turning a bad team around and having them make the playoffs every year that you're there, plus making 7 allstars, averaging almost 25 ppg, scoring almost 20k points on that team, taking them to the 3rd round, and making a team that didnt matter start mattering is worthy of getting your jersey retired.

Having a player be a top 10 player in the league for close to a decade while on your team is worthy of getting your jersey retired.

It all goes back to, are rings the only thing that matters? If so, then unretire Barkley, Malones, Stockton and a bunch of other players numbers. But if body of work matters, then Melo has a hall of fame 10 years in Denver and should he honored.

Melos best years being in Denver and the Knicks ruining the rest of his career should be a case study for players on what not to do.
