I've been running this back off and on from the first season.

I'm still on season 1.

Let's discuss

Best character WOAT name

IMO the show does peak before the movie....but in general the series peaked at the movie. Lots of great episodes prior to that. Even with the pacing issues, it's really easy to get consumed by how great the subplots are for various characters

is it safe to say season 1 is maybe the "worst" in terms of a lot of shit that's happened but none of it matters?

Mhm yeah that's fair. The bulk of season 1 is pretty much serialized. So, not significant beyond the production and writing formula the show would continue to have. But, my personal favorite arc of the show, are the seasons before DT got killed because of how much tension there is and how they work it.

No one really trusts anyone in the beginning and I liked that it helps define their characterizations, as their beliefs are constantly challenged (Scully and her views on the paranormal, Skinner and his disbelief in their work, etc.).

ok dope

now i must preface that i caught this much later in the series back in the day and never saw it from the start until i decided to recently during my hiatus.

I will say that through 14 eps, you can def see Scully start to believe in things beyond science, but i also liked how she would often offer a scientific explanation to Mulder. I thought that was a nice pick and roll for them.

Lol…this the thread you were talking about? Y’all @‘s didn’t work. I only found this while looking for the thread about the flash from cw

Season one they did the most investigative work, it’s great for their character development.

My favorite episode from season one was the pilot.

My most favorite episode was the one with Jesse Ventura..lol..great guest appearance

I'm on the episode where the preacher has the son who can "heal"

@AP2.5 what you think so far?

Ion think you got into the meat of the show yet with the monster of the week episodes, that’s when it becomes the perfect show with a great balance of seriousness and silliness

I fell asleep again on the healer episode. Not cause I didn't like it but I was so tired yesterday

I'm refereeing some games today so I'ma start it back up when I get home and do some laundry

I know this show gets a lot better as the seasons go on but it's kinda rough watching it trying to figure out it's footing in the first season

I mentioned in my initial post that I like the dynamic between Mulder and Scully. It's a lot like real life where people that are heavy faith based have discussions with heavy science based people.

That is a big theme in the xfiles in general. Whatever characters that have recurring roles, take them as face value of who they are right now. It makes the viewing of the show that much more better.

Whomever they come across as right now, just go into it expecting that, that’s who they are and are gonna be. It’ll provide a much more meaningful feeling as their development rounds out their character traits and personality.

Don’t try to figure anything out, take everything at face value cause the xfiles does a good job of explaining everything.

Even the smoking man,..slight spoiler.. your gonna love the episode where they explain him from his own perspective. It’s an amazing episode.

So just take everyone at face value, even if you make it to the Dogget episodes…take him at face value, he’s very annoying when he comes on..don’t assume anything

Ok so boom

Just watched probably the best 3 consecutive episodes in S1.

The one where the dude could contort himself who was 100 yrs old. He appeared in maybe one of the first 10 episodes? But this time he was let out of the psych ward. I liked this one.

Then it was the episode where the cop who was killed by some crooked cops that used the lil girl to extract revenge.

Now I'm watching the one with the dude that's on the spectrum who has the twin? He been killing scientists and finishing their work?

Best 3 run stretch so far
