The one between three and three.
A hip hop album would be titled "The Cool Nerd". Straight spittin, battle rhymes, maybe a reflective joint, and at least two DJ cuts. Whole shits written and produced by myself.
I've been slowly working on an EP of old-school sounding Detroit Techno and Deep-ish House titled "Something That Reminded Me of Yesterday" as well as curating a DJ mix of late 80's/90's Detroit Techno, Chicago House, and Deep house joints of the same name. I'm slowly picking up vinyl of everything I want on that mix so that when I get myself another set of turntables I can get to work mixing and recording it.
That EP is part of the reason I want to pick up some old hardware synths like I mentioned in the beatmaking thread. The results so far haven't been quite to my liking using software so it's time to take it back to the old shit for real. The music from that period of time puts me in a good place. Lotta good memories of the late 80's/90's centered around Techno and House coming up in Detroit. Started spinning in the summer of '90, did my first party in the spring of '91, playing out around Tha D, slangin' actual DJ mixtapes out of the stores I worked at... Good times. Gotta recreate that vibe.
