Breaking News A record 4.3 million workers quit their jobs in August, led by food and retail industries

I'm not really sure how that will work out for them since you still need to work to eat last I checked. Still, I would never want to work in the service industry. Having to deal with assholes that think they own you all day everyday has to get old fast, so I don't blame them for quitting.

I couldn’t do even if I was paid 20 a hour.

It’s the customers not the actual work that’s the issue for me.

Definitely the customers. What kills me is that the people that make the worst customers are the ones that think people in those industry don't deserve to make any money. I've heard a couple people at work discuss the topic. I look at them like "They deserve $20 a hour just to deal with you alone."

People need to be nicer to service people period.

making 8 or 49 an hr.
Too many shitty people looking to give someone a nasty attitude just cuz.

hate people like that

Because we as a society has made it so we have intertwined a person's perceived value with their salary. So if a person is making minimum wage or a low salary then people feel entitled to disrespect them...call them lazy...say they're not really working hard etc. The same shit has happened here when discussing unemployment. People let those biases come out real quick

It ain't just the salary. It's the type of job too. Trashmen could be making 6 figures and some people would still look down on them even those they do one of the most important jobs in society.

I was thinking the same thing.

Are these people quitting their low paying jobs and getting something better or are they just QUITTING and doing nothing?

the average server that’s good at what they do earns well over 18 an hour with some variances based on environment and location. And bar tenders make double that. It’s not the pity job you think it is.

These idiots still don't get it.

Biden did a press conference about an hour ago addressing the problems with the quote/unquote............."supply chain."

His solution?

Well, the Port of LA is now going to be open 24 hours..................as well as all Walmart and Target distribution centers.

The reason?

To try to do everything they can to have a successful Christmas Shopping season.

Gotta remember, the supply chain isn't really about the supply chain.

It's about the manufacturing base we lost starting in the 70s and 80s.......and culminating with NAFTA(North American Free Trade Agreement) in 1992.

@Biden

Let me fill you in on a little something:

PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF BEING WORKED HALF TO DEATH FOR LOW WAGES!!!!!!!

Why is that so hard for him to understand?

Well, then again, he's not stupid...........so he probably does understand.

He's just trying to find a solution that doesn't entail any significant change to the status quo.

Wish I could shrink all the powers-that-be down to antman size and take a massive diarrhea dump on the whole lot of them.

That's definitely a huge part of it.

The other part is, they don't want do die from Covid by working a low-wage dead-end job in which they're treated poorly and disrespected on a regular basis.

Most jobs are “dead end” I don’t like that term

Most jobs are “dead end” I don’t like that term

Some more so than others.

Matter of perspective.

Usually, when people refer to a dead end job........they're referring to a job with horrible pay, little to no benefits..........and no room for advancement.

So, if most jobs fit that description, then there's nothing wrong with referring to them as such.

What about the healthcare workers? Those aren’t low wage, dead end jobs. Over 500,000 in one month?

people don’t want to die from Covid .

We're on the same page bruh.

I don't disagree with you.

All I'm saying is that Covid is a huge part of it.

Basically, all of these factors are a part of the same equation.

People have been working low wage dead-end jobs for years.

The difference now is, if you throw covid into the mix, people are not willing to risk their lives working those jobs anymore.

Another factor is these vaccine mandates.

Pretty much falls under the law of unintended consequences.

Biden's trying so hard to get people vaccinated, but a lot of people don't like to feel like they're being pressured or coerced into doing anything.

So they refuse to take it because they don't like the idea of someone telling them that they have to.

I don’t think the mandates has played a big part YET. I think there are just way more ways to get to the money right now .
Yea, but it’s not like there still isn’t plenty people getting crushed financially in this inflated market right now. And people in general doing too much behind a dollar right now. There needs to be something to counter-balance.

yea people are getting crushed..there’s also people making some decent money checking temperatures..would you break your back for $17 a hour or sit in a chair checking temps and vaccine cards?
my main concern is the increase of crime and unethical practices. People getting catalytic converters stolen all over the place, scams, fraud, storage break-ins, cutting corners with our food and God knows what else. All behind a dollar. It only takes a few unhappy mfs to commit mass acts of those type of things.

My aunt is a retired head nurse from NYC (retired a few years ago), so she gave me a inside perspective on all of this. She said all the nurses threating to quit or quitting over the vaccine are stupid and full of shit. Apparently to be a nurse in a hospital even before covid, you had to be vaccinated and take the flu vaccine every year. And if you declined to take the Flu vaccine, you had to be wrapped head to toe in PPE gear with no gaps, to be allowed to work in the hospital. She said anyone that would opt out of the vaccine would just end up getting it, because of how hot and how much it sucked to be wrapped up the whole shift.

So anyone thats really a nurse or hospital worker thats posting videos online about quitting over the vaccine is lying. Its not over the vaccine and its over some fake political stance, so they can hopefully try and go viral being a fake martyr and get famous.
