I was wondering why the guy with 3 tours wasn't in command. They just had Chris Pratt in command and I was like but he's new. Guess it was because he was the colonel's father. Pretty cool to find out your kid accomplished so much for the world though

Of course they fucked up the drop though. That was expected lol What was strange was how they managed to get down from that building onto the street so quickly

There was some cheesy parts to it like where the fat dude and the woman stayed back to die while telling everyone to leave them

I thought it would have been better if the grandfather instead of just saying yes to helping that he said said only if he gets to see his granddaughter. I think it would have set up that ending better. Although I don't know how they didn't have severe frostbite out there. Especially the grandfather who didn't have gloves or his mask on at the end

It was a nice moment when he saw his daughter coming down the stairs after everything that happened with hanging with her grownup self
 
Just finished it, went in thinking it would be absolute dogshit. It honestly wasn't that bad, I cracked up a couple times. Shit, I almost teared up when he came back and saw his daughter, again. The casting was dope, I wish they were in a better movie, lol. They had J.K Simmons and that's all they do with him? Also, the shit with the spaceship actually shocked me, I didn't expect that at all.

Also, did anyone else catch any "redneckish" vibes near the end? It was kinda weird. "You stuck 'er, dad! You stuck 'er!". Before I started the movie, I glimpsed an article about it thumping American values, but I just dismissed it, lol. It wasn't until the end that I realized what they were talking about.

Anyway, it's def watchable if you're a sci fi fan.

Just because you do something more than the other don’t mean your in charge. Pratt was an actual special forces leader.
 
I like the movie. We got a lot action with the aliens in it. More monster movies need to be like that.

Ummm yeah ALL thoughts of applying logic to this movie went out the window...when the future soldiers appeared in the middle of a FIFA game. So frostbite was the least of concern wit this movie.

The aliens were a lil too invincible. At the end the queen was taking hella damage and still coming
 
Fighting and saving the future!!

PRAISE : There are nice set ups for this movie about a man who is drafted to fight in a future war where the fate of humanity relies on his ability to confront his past.
The cast including Chris Pratt,Yvonne Strahovski, J. K. Simmons,Betty Gilpin,Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge and Jasmine Mathews.
I thought Richardson was absolutely hilarious in this.
There are some shades of Terminator mixed in to the story
And it posed the question what if you knew your future and it was a bleek one? Would you try to alter it even at the cost of other's?
There are some very impressive action sequences throughout the movie.I actually wondered how they would have looked in 3D.
There's some funny one liners and banter weaved into the film.
I wasn't expecting all of the humorous moments in the movie so that was a nice surprise.

PROBLEMS : Some predictable paths and plot holes.
I know the writers were trying to give the film some dramatic weight with bonding moments but I felt every minute of most of them and a 2 hour and 20 minute run time wasn't really necessary.

I thought it would have been better if them going to the space ship to kill the aliens ended up being the event that released them and started the war. All of them would have died so no one would know it was their fault.

And the story about him leaving his family could have been told like he just left and never came back, which would coincide with him dying while releasing the aliens.
