Miseducation...was ranked #10

It Takes A Nation of Millions was ranked #15

MBDTW was ranked # 17

To Pimp A Butterfly was ranked #19

Ready To Die was ranked #22


I guess that's what they consider their top 5
 
I can't say I agree with that list, but I respect it. Trying to rank 500 albums across all popular modern genres is a monstrous task. I expected to see a fair amount of Hip Hop and R&B, but they showed love to Blues, Jazz, Funk, and Reggae too.

The placement of Hip Hop albums is kinda odd, but the albums the selected weren't bad choice. They even had some surprises (e.g., The Pharcyde made the list).

Miseducation isn't a Hip Hop album ya'll stop it. It's Hip Hop influenced, but that shit is in the same vein as Cee Lo's albums. Enter the 36 was their #27 I believe, so their top five Hip Hop albums were

There's a style of music called Hip Hop and R&B. That's what Hot 97 and Power 105 plays.

lol What the fuck? No there isn't. Those are two distinct genres. Hot 97 plays both Hip Hop music and R&B music. Those cds you listed have both Hip Hop songs and R&B songs. I'm sure they also have songs that are Hip Hop with R&B styled vocals or R&B with a Hip Hop verse, but that doesn't make Hip Hop and R&B it's own distinct genre. It's not like every song played on Hot 97 has both R&B vocals AND Hip Hop verses. What a strange way of interpreting things.

Wrong.

Hot 97 will play 10 songs in a row by a rapper with a R&B chick singing the hook, followed by a R&B song with a rapper spitting 16 bars in between the second and third verse.

So if you had to explain their format, how would you explain it?

Bruh, here is the tracklist for one of those albums you listed.



Only three songs on there were crossovers. The reason so many of the songs they play now have R&B singers and rappers on them at the same times is because crossovers are more common. That doesn't mean they've become a distinct genre of music.

I seen that. I thought that was off brand shit. I gotta give it a try. I had that Ketchup & Mustard, but shit wasn't hitting on nothing.
