Their own record labels

Do Hip Hop artists have a better business acumen than traditional musicians?

If you think of the top R&B artists Usher, R Kelly, Chris Bown, Ashanti, Erykah Badu, Alicia Keys, Maxwell, D'Angelo, Anthony Hamilton, Faith Evans, Musiq Soulchild, Ne-Yo. I don't think any of them have their own record labels, clothing lines. It seems like there's more documentaries and biopics for Hip Hop artists than R&B artists

hip hop has 2 billionaires, some 100 millionaires and bunch of millionaires. they did a better job at taking advantage of their star power then other genres

Yeah I'm thinking Beyonce might be the only R&B singer of this generation that has serious money.

Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey have serious money, but they've been around a lot longer.
 
I would agree. I remember Rza breaking down how he ran Wu like you would run an organization in the streets. Drug dealing has its ups and downs, but there are business practices that are learned in the game that translate to any type of successful business management.

shit drug dealing is a buisiness

and the guys that have made it to the highest echelon like Big Meech make more or as much money as a CEO

Seems the rappers that really lived that lifestyle are much better businessmen ... they already been learning principals of it

usher is the only other rnb artist i can think of that has it like that - doesnt he have part ownership of a team?
