That term is a bit skewed, the definition of awkward is

causing or feeling embarrassment or inconvenience

Socially means:in the company of others, especially for pleasure; in a social manner

So in the company of others, we cause a feeling of embarrassment

So the issue is not within us.. that issue is external, if we are being ourselves, key word, ourselves, who we are internally which should not be what everyone else is internally

Then we are secure both internally and externally and cause discomfort for those who are not..thus the socially awkward person is the person who wants everyone to be "normal" because they feel awkward otherwise

Since none of us are alike, the "normal" are the socially awkward

Of course the bringing attention to the chesticles is blatant, are we to suggest the social standard is to be mature and civil?
