Bitch mob
Here is pt. 1 winner.
.

I'll make a 4part to compare different eras. Pt.1 winner was West Coast hip hop in the early 90s. If y'all feel I miss some eras, please share and I'll try to include in pt 3.

The Criteria:

Overall music catalog

Cultural impact

Defining moments

Long term influence

Classic music/moments

You need to consolidate some lil homie.

I'd make that Bad Boy & Shiny Suit era one since most associate Bad Boy with shiny suit era anyway.

But from the list Rocafella.

Jay carried it, but Beans, Ye, Cam, & Bleek all had some dope to classic projects.
When's the last time you heard of a successful crew where the leader was a top 5 rapper.

The had in house producers like Ye, just blaze, no I'd, dj clue, 9th wonder etc

Spitters like beans , freeway, peedi, Camron, juelz, twista, jr writer, foxy brown, young chris, jada and was gonna sign Big L

They even had odb and m.o.p. at one point.

I voted for the Zulu Nation Era, but I'd say the years are 87-91.

Back then you could sample whatever you wanted and the entire catalog of music had been untouched (as far as sampling goes).

Breakbeat Lou and Breakbeat Lenny were dropping heat in that era. Mr Magic and Red Alert were going at it over the airwaves, The West Coast was starting to get their shine. Yo! MTV Raps became a thing, The Source became a thing.

Rappers would have dancers in their videos and dances would spread across the nation.

I dunno that ANYONEhad a run like Bad Boy. And we gotta extend that past 1997. We not gonna just ignore the fact that Diddy made a star out of fucking Loon. LOON, my nigga.

There's a big difference between a "star" vs 15 minutes of fame.

Biggie and Faith were stars

Loon and Craig Mack had 15 minutes and their time was up.

I mean...they were a part of the Bad Boy run. They were popular, all over TV, selling records, etc. Don't really matter if it was for a year or a decade. Whether for a long run to just a summer, ALL of these niggas made noise with Bad Boy: Big, Kim, Lox, Black Rob, Loon, G-Dep, Mase, Craig Mack, etc.

I'll take Bad Boy from 94 to about 02 or 03.

Rocafella

Jay- Top MC of his time
Kanye- Good music (spawned from Roc tree)
Cam- Dip Set " " juelz, jim
Beans- State Prop" " freeway, Gunnaz, peedi

That's 3 diff big movements that were associated from that Roc era.

Yeah but Rocafella vs Bad Boy from 99-03 would be a slaughter. I'll give you Black Rob because he had some legitimate hits and two solid albums. You could still play Whoa at a club/party.

But Loon and G-Dep's catalog could be erased from Hip Hop and nobody would care, except for this song, I Am, which is noteworthy because it features Rakim & Kool G Rap.

Nah 'Everday' is one of the best joints on Bad Boy... G Dep was fire...
