Second, if i did, yes, i would be more inclined to get something from him vs a hypebeast shoe that people tend to overrate very quickly. you know there are a LOT of people living beyond their means and will drive those cars, wear those shoes, and own those phones and their priorities all fucked up. That isnt a direct correlation.

there is a price of what it actually costs to produce something, then there is the price they charge the consumer. They are in the business of making a dollar. Most of the shoes i've bought as an adult have been on sale, and even then, they are making more than what it cost to make the shoe. They not doing me any favors by putting a sale price on it. Then there are the shoes they take advantage of people with b/c they know there are people who feel like if they want the show that bad, they gonna release a limited amount and you gonna pay retail price for it, then there are those who take advantage of that group who missed out, and they get hit with the resell game.
as far as phones go, there are many other factors to consider, assuming you are in the know. I dont own a pixel to stunt, i own it for a few reasons actually, but its always in a case and practically no one know what it is unless they specifically ask, but I wouldn't be opposed to trying a lesser expensive phone if i could have the same or very similar experience.
As far as $20 shoes are concerned...for some people, this is the only option. I am on my feet a lot in a typical day, so me constantly wearing $20 shoes would definitely have long term effects on my feet. Real story, when i first started refereeing, i tried just getting some $20 Adidas from Shoe Dept to run in b/c i wasn't trying to spend what other dudes was spending on shoes. I was not as knowledgeable about my body and my feet at the time, so i didnt think it would matter, but the moment i was able to buy some that retailed for like $120, but i got them for like $70, i noticed the difference and havent looked back.
There have only been maybe 10 pair of shoes that i've felt like damn, i need to get these but i think i only pulled the trigger one maybe 3 (at retail price). Saucony did a collab with a sneaker boutique here for some cafe du monde beignet inspired shoes. Ofc, those bitches sold out in like 5 min. Met a homie this weekend that had them and he was saying he camped out for 9 hours...nah b, but they look even better in person than they did on the site.

you can talk about flagship phones all you want...still doesnt change my thoughts on the pixel. I didnt buy the phone b/c it there was "hype" around it. I owned the Nexus 6p and the rebrand was the pixel so i was familiar with the brandl. I've now owned 2 google phones. I bought the 6p second hand from swappa, and bought the pixel 2XL brand new b/c they were running a 0% financing option if you got it from them (google), and i do WAY more shit with my phone than the average person who bought it b/c they were due for an upgrade and the salesman sold them the phone as the latest and greatest.
if your counter is that i could just get some mom and pop cell phone store flip phone, then it's a flimsy one. Not all non flagship phones have comparable specs which is why they aren't flagship phones. They will sacrifice something to keep it at a reasonable price point b/c they have to appeal to all kinds of budgets from consumers.
