My ignorance has lead me to believe that long term, a place like the DR isn't ideal for me to just pack up and uproot myself from where I am but I would love to learn some more info about it

Would you thread starter?

That's why I started the show to answer questions and dispel some of the myths about the Dominican Republic. It's a really nice place for Black Americans to live.

We're in Punta Cana. I love it here. I hope you get a chance to watch the show. Episode 3 "All About Bridget" that's me.

Did all the tourist stop dyin out there?

Shit was wild for a second
Yes, everything just suddenly stopped. But the reported deaths were over a period of 1 1/2 years. It wasn't in months like the media was reporting.

My first concern bout DR is the racism towards it's Afro community.
Not trying to go somewhere foreign to have the same problems.

Then the racism towards Haitians that I've heard Dominicans have.

After that, the tropical storms is an issue.
I don't wanna have to rebuild my home every year.

I've been here for 10 months and I haven't experienced any racism from Dominicans or Haitians. I've gotten the side eye from a few Canadians. Dominicans and Haitians have a good relationship. There is a handful that don't like each-other but nothing compared to the racism in the US. We did a whole episode about this very topic. Please subscribe to my channel. That episode will be aired in two weeks.

The homes are built of concrete. We got a lot of rain from Hurricane Dorian just a few months ago. But my Hometown Houston, Tx was completely flooded again for the second time in 3 years. And thousands of people lost their home. Punta Cana has not had a direct hit from a Hurricane in over 20 years and the last Tropical Storm didn't not cause any loss of lives. Some homes in the poorer areas in the country were lost.

it depends on where you live.
and you must understand how the education is set up.....it was just as bad as how we were taught...to laugh at africans and hate ourselves.
also if you boycott the DR you gotta do france and the US aswell .

and in Villa Mella its a huge black/afro dominican, haitian community.

And always remember....you have an american privilege.
