WWE SummerSlam: 8/23/20

I don’t know about you guys but I’m ready for the hottest night of the summer!!!

As PWInsider.com reported yesterday, WWE has dropped plans to attempt to stage at least portions of Summerslam in Atlantic City, New Jersey. There had been a pitch, at one point, to try and tape content on a beach or a cruise ship. Internally, WWE is now planning to stage the show in Orlando, Florida but not at the WWE Performance Center.
WWE is planning to broadcast the show from The Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida. WWE is also circling the Amway Arena for regular tapings going forward, a potential move from the WWE Performance Center for a much, obviously larger facility that would allow far more for the company in terms of staging, production, etc.

PWInsider.com can also confirm that WWE is, for the first time, toying with using virtual fans as a possibility for future broadcasts, including Summerslam. WWE broadcast partner FOX has been using virtual fans for their Major League Baseball broadcasts.
Expected to be added to Summerslam's lineup is Jeff Hardy challenging WWE Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles. That was the direction planned for the Smackdown episode that was slated to be taped last week but was canceled. That episode is being taped today at the WWE Performance Center.
