Air Force Sergeant Under Investigation for Ranting About ‘Black Females’

An Air Force sergeant is under investigation after ranting about lower-ranking “black females” in a Facebook video recorded at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

In the video, Tech. Sgt. Geraldine Lovely uses no fewer than eleven iterations of the vulgar slang word “fuck”–largely as an exclamation to underscore her frustration with the allegedly bad attitudes of her subordinates who are female and black.

As Lovely directly addresses the camera in camouflage bearing her name, she says:

Fucking issues with my airmen and my NCOs [non-commissioned officers] that are lower-ranking than me, but they’re black females. And it pisses me the fuck off that they have no fucking respect and constantly having an attitude. And what the fuck is up with that?! Like, I’m trying my best to hold my professionalism with them but good god, they have no fucking respect whatsoever.

The minute-and-a-half-long video continues, “Every time I talk to them, ‘No ma’am,’ it’s just like they’re talking down to me. And I—I’m trying to tread lightly as a higher-ranking NCO not to fucking blow the fuck up and start a fight club because—but I’m over it. Why is that? Why is it that every time I encounter my subordinates that are black females they have a giant, fucking attitude?”

Her feelings on full display, Lovely finishes up her now-viral rant. She says, “And it’s not like I’m coming to them with a fucking attitude. I don’t. But every time I fucking talk to them? It’s like I’m just some fucking stupid ass girl that doesn’t even—what is that called? Like I don’t even deserve to be talked to as a person? Ugh.”

As of this writing, Lovely’s video has been viewed in excess of 1.2 million times–prompting no small amount of outrage and, as mentioned, an official investigation into her conduct.

An official statement released by Nellis Air Force Base reads, in its entirety,

TSgt Geraldine Lovely, a member of the 99th Force Support Squadron, has been removed from her supervisory role while leadership continue to gather facts regarding this incident. Leadership are exploring disciplinary actions and are checking to see if this is a broader issue on the base. While the actions of this individual are inappropriate and unacceptable, we are using this unfortunate situation to continue a dialogue with our Airmen about the topic of good order and discipline, as well as adherence to the Air Force Core Values.

An additional statement from Major Chris Sukach, with Nellis Public Affairs, reads, “This is inappropriate and unacceptable behavior in today’s society & especially for anyone in uniform. Leadership is aware and is taking appropriate action.”

Woman Pleads Guilty to Making Up Story She Was Raped by Three Black Men

Breana Harmon, a Texas woman who claimed she was raped by three black men last March, admitted to making it all up. She pleaded guilty Thursday to four felony charges of tampering with physical evidence and government documents, according to The Herald Democrat. Her attorney Bob Jarvis told the outlet she was “very remorseful” for making up the story. Sentencing is set for March 20. The defense will push for deferred adjudication while the prosecution wants probation, Jarvis said.

He declined to specify what kind of mitigating circumstances he’d present at the sentencing hearing, except to say that her personal background possibly influenced her actions.

“I don’t want to try the case in the paper,” he said. “It’ll all come out. Let’s just say she has some fairly unusual circumstances that I think they’ll be interested to hear about.”

Back when this first happened, the Denison Police Department got a 911 call from Harmon’s fiancé. He believed she was missing because he discovered her vehicle in an apartment complex parking lot with the driver’s door left open, and her possessions–a phone, shoe, and keys–left nearby. Harmon later popped up when she walked into a church wearing just a shirt, bra, and underwear, and she was covered in scratches. She told cops “three black males” in ski masks kidnapped and sexually assaulted her.

Police said she admitted to lying on March 21. She reportedly told them that got into a fight with her fiancé. It was so bad that she believed the relationship would probably end. She went for a walk, she said, and ended up cutting herself in an abandoned house. Harmon worried that her family would get mad at her for cutting herself, so she nodded when church staff asked if she had been sexually assaulted, police said.

Teacher, Outed as Alleged White Nationalist, ‘Removed’ from Class Pending Investigation

Florida teacher Dayanna Volitich, who allegedly ran a white nationalist podcast, has been “removed from the classroom” pending the results of an investigation into her behavior. The Citrus County School District announced the move on Sunday.

“On Friday, March 2, 2018 the Citrus County School District was made aware of a concerning podcast by a Huffington Post reporter,” said a statement obtained by Law&Crime. “The reporter indicated they believed one of the persons participating in the podcast was a teacher at Crystal River Middle School. The Human Resources department was notified and an investigation was initiated immediately. The teacher has been removed from the classroom and the investigation is ongoing. Pursuant to Florida Statute an open investigation and materials related to it are exempt from public record and cannot be discussed until the investigation is complete.”

The allegation first emerged in a Huffington Post report on Saturday. Volitich, a social studies teacher at Crystal River Middle School, secretly ran a white nationalist podcast under the pseudonym “Tiana Dalichov,” the outlet claimed. The reporters compared Volitich’s picture against the picture of a woman on Dalichov’s social media accounts. These seemed to show the same individual. A website promoting Dalichov showed that she had biographical information that matched Volitich’s. For example, age (25), and city of residence (Crystal City, Florida). The names of both women were also very similar, the article said, sharing “all but two of the same letters and the same number of syllables.”

If that is Volitich, then she’ll have to answer for viewpoints that the school district wants no part of. Officials are looking into whether her alleged behavior violates the code of ethics and policy. For example, in a Feb. 26 episode of the podcast, Dalichov said “science” proved that certain races are smarter than others. She bragged about lowkey teaching her white nationalist viewpoint in school. When parents complained to her bosses that she was inserting her political bias in class, Dalichov lied to the principal, and insisted that was false. She also supported her guest’s suggestion that more white supremacists become teachers and spread the viewpoint.

Tennessee GOPers Explain Why They Wouldn’t Condemn Neo-Nazism

Under pressure for killing a resolution denouncing white nationalism and neo-Nazism, Tennessee GOP lawmakers are belatedly offering an explanation.

In a Friday email to TPM, Rep. Bob Ramsey, one of three Republicans on the State Government Subcommittee, said they objected to language that would ask law enforcement to consider the groups “domestic terrorist organizations.”

“Our Committee has had several resolutions from various political parties, aimed at special prosecutors, designations of terrorist organizations, condemnation of religious sites and practices, and celebration of controversial historical sites, figures, or organizations,” Ramsey said.

Ramsey insisted that the GOP members agreed with the “intent and philosophy” of the resolution, which was originally introduced last year by Democratic Rep. John Ray Clemmons in the wake of the deadly Charlottesville, Va. white-nationalist rally.

“These subjects seem simple but have initiated some of the most bitter decisiveness [sic] and debates I have ever witnessed.”

Ramsey added that he and the other Republican lawmakers, Reps. Bill Sanderson and Bud Hulsey, were urging Clemmons to consider changes to the language of the bill in order to secure its passage.

As the Tennessean first reported, the resolution was “met with silence” from the trio of Republican lawmakers when it was brought before the panel on Wednesday. The other provisions would have required the House to “strongly denounce and oppose” the racist bigotry promoted by these groups.

National Democratic groups condemned the GOP’s failure to back the measure. Ben Wexler-Waite, communications director for super PAC Forward Majority, called on the Republican National Committee and Republican State Leadership Committee to publicly denounce the Tennessee lawmakers’ move.

“It’s beyond shocking that anyone in the year 2018 has to ask the RSLC or RNC why they won’t condemn neo-nazism,” Wexler-Waite said in a Friday statement. “The actions of the GOP-controlled Tennessee legislature are a punch in the gut to everything this country stands for and an insult to Jews, people of color, and all who have suffered at the hands of right wing extremists. There is zero excuse for why the legislature would even hesitate to pass this resolution and history will not forget the moment the Republican Party stood silent as its members condoned Nazis.”

Tennessee is home to a number of active white nationalist groups. The Southern Poverty Law Center’s recently released “hate map” for 2017 found 37 hate groups in the state, including chapters of the Ku Klux Klan, the neo-Confederate League of the South, and the neo-Nazi Aryan Nations.

Last weekend, Identity Evropa, a white nationalist group aimed at recruiting college students, held a flash mob demonstration in a Nashville park. In October, some 200 white nationalists convened in Shelbyville for a “White Lives Matter” rally.
