I should write an article about this shit, but i was just thinking. This might be up there with "What if biggie and pac was still alive", in regards to how different the game would be.

If Nas would've joined Murder Inc and was down to go to war (musically), the game would be different. Ja would've continued to run the charts and Nas would've ran the streets. We would've seen Nas go directly at Em and Fif, which probably would've derailed the G-Unit movement.

And in my opinion, Nas' later albums would've came out better. Niggas sleep on Irv Gotti as a producer, but alot of Hov, DMX and Ja's best hits were produced by Irv. Those are 3 completely different styles, so I know he could've figured out how to properly produce for Nas.

I might turn this thread into the Record Store random thoughts, cuz this was random af, but still...

Wasnt a good fit.

Nobody tryn hear Nas/Ashanti duets
U must've didn't read the OP.

Irv knew how to produce X, he didn't produce X the same way he did for Ja. Irv didn't produce Ja like he did Jay, etc.

He would've produced for Nas how he should've.

Nas the GOAT but, he wasn't gonna change anything w/ Murder Inc.

Plus him and 50 was already beefing at that point, if I'm not mistaken, so if he wanted to he could have have taken a shot at Em.

I remember when the rumors were heavy about Nas signing to Murder Inc. Especially after this song dropped:

It would have been interesting for sure and would have been a good move to legitimize them a little more as a hip hop label again. Around this period they were pushing Ja and Ashanti heavy with the RnB inspired stuff. They had tried several times giving the other rappers shine like Cadillac Tah and Black Child, but Tah and Black Child just werent that great. The best rappers they had outside of Ja were Vita and Charli Baltimore. It would have been a different battle by far with G Unit and Murder Inc, but the arrest of Supreme and Murder Inc being frozen and dropped by Def Jam during the trial would have still fucked them up like it did.

Always thought Irv was a dope producer. Definitely had a ear and was on quite a roll there for a long time. Just started straying away from the tough Hip Hop sound and moved towards RnB inspired hits. I remember they signed Vanessa Carlton at one point and dropped an album for her but it was a flop. Its been called her best album though haha.

Do you think their camp would've let Nas just sit there and not say shit?

If he joined I think he would've felt obligated to make a diss towards Fif and Em.

IDK...

Have to take that Nas & Dr Dre connect into the situation. Maybe that's the reason it never happened to begin with...

Yes. By that time Nas was already GOAT status. If Nas did join in, I'm 100% sure it would've been bcuz 50 said something first.

If Nas straight up told them "that's between y'all". I don't think Ja/Irv would have pressured him to dissing 50/Em.

Plus would Irv and Ja take on Nas' shit w/ Jay?

Yea, but Fif would've been dropping Nas disses every week. Nas would've looked crazy just sitting on mute.

@Goldie I know this ain't got shit to do with the thread. I'm listening to the Vince Staples call in on Budden podcast and he Joe told Vince, Rory got into some trouble in DC.

You know what that shit was about?
I heard that shit on the pod too, I've never heard about anything about that offline or on twitter, etc. I'll look into it tho. I think joe was just talkin shit tho.

Prolly would have happen.
Murda Inc (Jay X Ja) was about to be a thing.
Back then Nas and Js wasn’t eye to eye BUT if Nas would have signed it would have been a good look. Inc style was great for Nas.

Had that happen tho Ether wouldn’t have
