Preparing his followers for bad news about to be released. Had anyone found a correlation between his attacks on the media just prior to major news against Trump being released?

I bet if someone really analyzed his tweets against the news against him we'd be able to anticipate what's going to be in the next news cycle or moves he's about to make.

Remember, he's the president so he gets made aware of things way in advance of the public.

Just 6 Migrants Stopped At Southern Border In First Half Of FY18 Matched Watch List

For months, the Trump administration has sought to portray the southern border as a potential source of terrorism by falsely conflating statistics about so-called “known or suspected terrorists” who had been prevented from traveling to the United States with migrants and refugees seeking asylum on the southern border.

On Monday, NBC News clarified the matter: In the first half of fiscal year 2018, according to Customs and Border Protection data obtained by the network, CBP agents encountered just six immigrants on the southern border whose names matched the Terrorist Screening Database — which itself is of dubious accuracy.

Others stopped at the border whose names matched the list were U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, NBC News reported. The report didn’t say whether the individuals were stopped while attempting to enter the United States legally or illegally

On Tuesday, October 23, Vice President Mike Pence offered a pristine example of the Trump administration’s disinformation campaign.

“In the last fiscal year,” he said in an interview, “we apprehended more than 10 terrorists or suspected terrorists per day at our southern border, from countries that are referred to in the lexicon as ‘other than Mexico.’ That means, ‘from the Middle East region.’”

But that was wrong.

Before long, a spokesperson for Pence issued an amended statement on his behalf, saying: “In 2017 alone the U.S. apprehended on average between 10 suspected terrorists a day attempting to enter the country illegally.”

But that was also wrong.

Later that same Tuesday, a DHS official told TPM that Customs and Border Protection agents had “prevented” 10 “known or suspected terrorists from traveling to or entering the United States.”

That was also wrong.

The same official changed their language again the same day, replacing “traveling to or entering the United States” with the less-threatening-sounding “traveling or attempting to travel to the United States.”

Asked for a documentary source for the statistics, the official said: “DHS data. There is no report to link to.”

And just like that, the United States had gone from apprehending 10 known or suspected terrorists a day at the southern border to preventing 10 known or suspected terrorists from entering the United States. We later learned that the vast majority of these preventions occurred for individuals attempting to fly to the United States — that is, those seeking to obtain a visa or board a plane in another country.

Yet the administration continues to push the same misinformation. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders offered another illuminating example — using the same bogus logic — as recently as Sunday, receiving a realtime fact check from Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace.

Beto O’Rourke Reportedly Planning Road Trip as He Considers 2020 Run

Beto O’Rourke is still apparently considering a 2020 run, and as he continues to mull it over, he’s reportedly planning a “solo road trip.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, O’Rourke “is asking aides to create an itinerary for him to take a solo road trip outside of Texas where he would ‘pop into places’ such as community college campuses.”

There’s been a fair amount of 2020 buzz surrounding O’Rourke, following the national attention surrounding his ultimately unsuccessful 2018 race against Ted Cruz. This road trip would apparently be sans staff or press, and O’Rourke is reportedly going to make a decision one way or the other by next month.

Elizabeth Warren became the first major Democrat to officially get in the race, and it’s expected that others will be announcing soon enough.

There’s even talk of Joe Biden 2020, given a New York Times report saying he’s “told allies he is skeptical the other Democrats eyeing the White House can defeat President Trump.”

The Journal‘s report says Biden has yet to make a final decision, but he’s been holding meetings with advisers to talk about the possibility.

As for O’Rourke, Politico reported today on the efforts of a “Draft Beto” campaign that wants him in the race.

House Republicans Start To Squirm As Shutdown Loses Support

House Republicans are facing a difficult choice: refuse to vote for Democrats’ funding bills and let the unpopular shutdown continue, or cross the aisle against the White House’s wishes.

According to a Monday Politico report, GOP leaders are worried that many of their caucus members will choose the latter as Democrats bring individual bills to fund different agencies to the floor in lieu of a comprehensive funding package.

While GOP leaders expect defections, they want to keep that number under 55: if that many Republicans join with all the House Democrats, they will create a veto-proof majority. Per Politico, though that would not help things along on the Senate side, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has followed Trump’s orders, it would be a blow to the President and optics of the shutdown.

The separate bills Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) intends to push include funding for SNAP (food stamps), the IRS and federal mortgage programs — all very difficult for Republicans to vote against.

Trump Struggles To Find A Mattis Replacement After Second Rejection

President Trump is reportedly struggling to find a suitable person to replace Defense Secretary James Mattis after his hasty exit from the White House last month, Politico reported.

Former Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ), who served three terms in the Senate before retiring and was appointed to fill Sen. John McCain’s senate seat after he passed away in August, turned down Trump’s offer to head the Pentagon. Kyl is the second person to rebuff the White House’s offer. Retried General Jack Keane also declined to take the position after Mattis left. As Politico notes, Keane also declined the job offer in 2016.

Mattis resigned in late December over Trump’s decision to pull U.S. troops out of Syria, which, as he wrote in a scathing resignation letter, Mattis thought was a grave mistake.

Beto Says He Won’t Decide On 2020 Run Until February At Earliest

The closely watched former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) is planning a road trip to meet voters outside of his home state without any staff or press — a perfect opportunity to mull a 2020 presidential bid, a decision he says he won’t make until February at the earliest.

According to a Monday Wall Street Journal report, O’Rourke’s reticence — along with the indecision of possible candidates like former Vice President Joe Biden — has put something of a pause on Democratic announcements.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) stands as an exception, as she has launched an exploratory committee and traveled to Iowa to meet voters.

Mark Harris Flees Media Questions, Sets Off Fire Alarm

Mark Harris, the Republican congressional candidate in North Carolina currently caught up in an investigation of alleged ballot fraud, isn’t keen to speak to the media. So much so, we saw Monday night, that he’s willing to set off a fire alarm to avoid it.

Harris took an unusual route out of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center on Monday after speaking to the Mecklenburg County Republicans, eventually setting off the building’s fire alarm in a sprint away from curious reporters.

WSOC caught part of Harris’ journey on camera:

Later, Harris tweeted that he was in a rush to get home to watch football.

1.4 Million Florida Felons Can Now Register To Vote

MIAMI (AP) — The right to vote was restored for most Florida felons as of Tuesday, increasing the pool of eligible voters by as many as 1.4 million people in a battleground state infamous for its narrow margins in key elections.

The Florida Rights Restoration Coalition planned to get people together over breakfast before registering online or going to their local election supervisors’ offices to fill out the forms.

“We are encouraging our members to celebrate,” said organization’s president, Desmond Meade. “Our members are going into the supervisor of elections with their loved ones. And that is very key— with their loved ones— because we really want to highlight that concept of love.”

Nearly 65 percent of Florida voters last November approved Amendment 4, which was crafted so that it would take effect automatically, without further action needed by lawmakers. It applies to all felons who have done their time and completed the terms of their probation and parole, with the exception of people convicted of murder or sex offenses.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Florida says people don’t need to present proof that they completed their sentence; they can simply fill out the existing application, signing under oath that their voting rights have been restored.

Civil rights groups have maintained the measure is self-executing, taking effect automatically on Tuesday, but just to be sure, they warned that they are ready to go to court if there are any delays.

Some offices posted notices at the offices and websites saying they will accept the existing registration application.

Until the amendment passed, Florida’s constitution automatically barred felons from being able to vote after leaving prison. The state’s clemency process allows the governor and three elected Cabinet members to restore voting rights, although the governor can unilaterally veto any request. The process has changed over the years.

This country has a history of demonizing groups. Black people. The Irish got it. The Italians got it. The Jews got it (Even though the last 3 groups assimilated into white culture). The Japanese got it during WWII. Muslims have got it and now it's our turn as Latinos.
