Racist UFC fighter Mike Perry hits a old man while using racial slurs in Texas bar

UFC fighter Mike Perry was caught on video Tuesday night punching a man at a Texas bar and using racial slurs in the video that surfaced on social media.

Perry, a welterweight, appeared to strike an older man during a dispute that included at least one employee of the establishment asking Perry to leave. In the video, which was posted Wednesday night, Perry argued that another patron of the restaurant -- not the man he seemed to hit -- had touched him.

In the aftermath of the skirmish, Perry could be heard shouting several racial slurs.

Perry, who is white, used the N-word in a tweet directed at actor Michael Jai White in January, and called Tyrone Woodley "my n---a" in a tweet in 2018. The UFC has never announced discipline for Perry's language.

The incident occurred at Table 82 in Lubbock, Texas, ESPN confirmed with sources on Wednesday. TMZ was the first to report the locale. A spokesperson for the establishment, when reached Wednesday, declined comment.

Officers from the Lubbock Police Department responded to the scene, a law enforcement spokesperson told ESPN. An incident report was filed, but Perry was not arrested, and no charges were filed. An investigation is pending, the spokesperson said.

Perry tweeted Wednesday night, "No comment," after the video made the rounds on social media. His management team, when reached by ESPN, said "currently no comment" on the matter.

Perry (14-6), a Florida resident, competed at UFC Fight Night on June 27, beating Mickey Gall by unanimous decision. The fight drew scrutiny because Perry had no coaches in his corner. His lone corner person was his girlfriend, Latory Gonzalez. The victory over Gall snapped a two-fight losing streak for Perry.

Perry, 28, has been open in the past about spending six months in a Florida jail for a probation violation. He was on probation on a burglary charge in 2014 when he violated the probation with a battery arrest, according to court records. Perry also pleaded no contest to a battery charge in 2013 in Florida, per court records.

UFC 'troubled' by Mike Perry's bar altercation, says fighter will seek counseling

The UFC says it is "troubled" by the actions of fighter Mike Perry, who was involved in a physical altercation at a bar this week that was caught on video in which he also yelled racial slurs.

In a statement Thursday, the UFC said Perry has apologized and "committed to immediately seek professional treatment, including substance and behavioral counseling," after a video that showed Perry punching a man at a Texas restaurant surfaced online Wednesday night.

The UFC said it will not be offering Perry his next bout at this time. Perry, his team and the UFC have "agreed to evaluate next steps for Perry following the completion of his treatment program," the promotion's statement said.

No arrest has been made, and no charges have been filed, though the Lubbock Police Department is investigating Perry for one count of misdemeanor assault. According to the incident report obtained by ESPN, Perry is accused of striking multiple people at Lubbock establishment Table 82 on Tuesday night.

"UFC is aware and troubled by the video that was released last night concerning Mike Perry," the UFC's statement read. "The conduct displayed by Perry is not reflective of that of our organization. Perry apologized for his behavior and acknowledged he was disappointed with himself that his actions may have reflected poorly on UFC. He further acknowledged that he believes he has some issues related to alcohol abuse and has informed UFC that he has committed to immediately seek professional treatment, including substance and behavioral counseling. At this time, UFC has informed Perry that he will not be offered a bout, and the parties have agreed to evaluate next steps for Perry following the completion of his treatment program."
