Is it tough to admit that someone is smarter than you?

And I'm not talking about trying to flip it and say book smarts vs street smarts....

This is not that discussion.


Wherever you pride your intelligence..... Can you handle someone being smarter than you.

Like if you are a good critical thinker, can you handle a better one?

If you are a deep philosophical, spiritual thinker.. Does it humble you to be in the presence of someone with a deeper understanding superior you yours?

Even in debates here, politics, relationships, music, movies, sports.... Can you admit when you are outclassed.

The belief that all men are created equal is simply false.

Some people are naturally inherently better at certain shit than others. And that includes capacity for intelligence.


Now I know we gotta lotta smart niggaz on this site..... But chances are every single one of you have been in the presence of someone who is just smarter than you.


Will your ego allow you to admit it?
 
nah, i've always stayed in my lane if I wasnt the sharpest on something

im a quiet person so I listen a lot anyway

yeah, it might sting the pride/ego a bit sometimes but if I can pick something up i cant hate that....i've actually opened up more to learning from people as I age

now on the flip side of that, if I do know what im doing or talking about....i dont wanna hear it lol.....i wont argue or debate but you're dismissed, foh
 
What you described has nothing to do with who is 'smarter'. What you described is more who is better versed in a certain topic, or who is better at articulating their thoughts.

When it comes to that, yeah I have no problem admitting it. When I'm debating or discussing, one of the great things about me is I can recognize and accept when I've reached the limits of my expertise on some shit. If I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about regarding a topic and you clearly do...you got it.

thankfully there are very, very few people on the planet with an intelligence greater than mine, so I rarely ever have to deal with such thoughts.

When I was young I was really into the fuck capitalism shit, walking around with che guevara shirts on and shit.

I was around people who didnt know shit about shit and so I was always schooling mfers. For a teenager thats a crazy ego boost, so im feeling myself.

Now for classic socialists, a cop out argument is always America and the West likes to start wars for economic reasons so they can sell weapons to both sides and make money. Looking at how the world economy worked 50 years ago, you could make a argument that was true. But with globalization all that changed, and war as an economic tool became a bad move, economically. In modern economics, stability is where you make your money. You want the whole world to be stable so that the production of goods doesnt slow down and drive prices up.

Long story short though, as a young communist I didnt understand any of that. I was all about playing back arguments I heard about why america was the devil and in my circle that was enough.

And then I ran into a mfer that had a degree in economics. When I told him that the west starts wars as an economic tool, he laughed at me hard as fuck and schooled me on how wrong and outdated that was with examples of how all the world powers try to ensure stability and how international stability was the driving force of global economics.

That mfer humbled me so hard. Never wore a che guevera shirt again.

Shit made me realize I was just regurgitating shit I heard with half truths that made logical sense, but wasnt factual. Also made me realize how little I actually knew and how hard I would get schooled by people that really studied a subject.
 
No. How can you ever learn from others if you're always the smartest/most knowledgeable?
