Tupac vs Biggie

7/24/96

Yo peeps,
tell me if discussion's over or what...
BUT:
Tupac's "Hit 'em up", better "I declare war to Bad
Boy and the whole East (!?)" is a milestone in the
lyrical war East vs. West.
Starting out with a royal dis to Biggie Smalls for
the shooting back in 94 (Pac survived!), he
confirms he had Faith "on her knees, begging
please" (in fact it's another rapper saying this,
but I'm sure it's in the words of Pac) he's ending
with a "Fuck" to anyone down with Bad Boy (Mobb
Deep, Chino XL) and at last the whole East.
Check out and tell ...
Alex

7/25/96
Tupac fucking with Chino is like Saddam saying he was going to fuck up the
U.S. It just ain't gonna happen, and when Chino, whose specialty is
dissing the shit out of everybody, goes to attacking Tupac, Tupac will
regret the day he opened his studio gangster mouth. Like him or not,
Chino can wreck anybody verbally.

I heard that song, and it's WACK!! Total b.s.!! Just some more of that
repetitive "gangsta" shit, I think when Biggie and Mobb Deep and Chino
XL, etc. fire back at 2pac, they'll have his ass crying, I think
whoever shot 2pac in 94 should finish the job....

There is no lyrical war between the east and west
it's between a bunch of platinum selling artists tryin to sell records
they just usin the east/west as an illusion

it's between Bad Boy/Death Row/Ice Cube/Mobb Deep...that's it
everyone else on the east/west is cool

Hit Em Up is 2 Pac's feeble attempt at getting some credibility
back...his lyrics are wack...but before you pass judgement on this...I
know a kid who's heard the new Biggie album...for real and he says the
whole album is one big 2 Pac diss...whether they pull some songs off it,
I dunno, probably will..like they pulled "R&B Bitches" off Ready To Die

and Pac is biting off way more than he can chew...dissing Chino is not
wise for his ego...remember what happened when Cube dissed Common peep
"Da Bitch In You", what Chino does to Pac lyrically in the future will
be about 5 or 6 times more vicious

Peace
Malik

On EPMD's "Knick Knack Patty Wack", featuring K-Solo. Solo says, "I'm
> from C-i-l-i-f-l-y, like a b-r-i-d in the s-k-y". It rhymes, but after

YO, EMINEM IS THE MOST TALENTED RAPPER THIS 1999!!!
8/8/99
IT'S TRUE M&M'S VOICE IS WIMPY BUT LIRICLY HE MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR IT AND
DEFINITELY GIVES THE RAP WORLD A NEW STYLE THAT SOONER OR LATER SOME OTHER
RAPPERS ARE GOING TO BITE
IF THEY
HAVEN'T STARTED ALREADY, AND WHEN I SAY THE MOST TALENTED I MEAN IT SHARING
THE TOP
HONORS WITH GANGSTAR, WU, AND MAYBE A COUPLE OTHERS I FORGOT, BUT HE
DEFINITELY OUTWEIGTHS CATS LIKE
NAS, EPMD, AND ALL THOSE OTHER
PRETENDERS OF THE MONEY/WOMEN LIFE.
THE ALBUM THAT MIGHT KNOCK SLIM SHADY'S SHIT OF #1 COULD PROBABLY BE THE NEW
CRONIC TAPE BY DRE AND EMINEM HAPPENS TO BE A BIG PART OF IT,
OR MOST LIKELY THE UPCOMING 2 PAC'S ONE NATION.
THIS IS MY OPINION
:hahaha:

Yo, this kid is the most overated rapper this 1999 !!!. I agree that he got
a new style but lyricaly he sux. his first solo is too wack except for about
one song. he needs to get lyrically skilled. Dr Dre is one of my favorite
rappers and i wish for Chronic 2000 to be the illest rap album for this
year. As Dre introduces Snoop to the world and he shines, I expect from
Emenim a better chance to perform a better joint. and yeah once another
thing, When you talk about Emenim, don't ya ever mention 2pac! they just
shouldn't be in the same sentence.
Peace
The BomB

:celebrate:

damn man, maybe you need to listen to his album. He has to be the most
creative rapper of 1999.i don't know where people get off thinking he is
wack. Dr. Dre has been succesful with everything he has done in Hip-Hop, i
think he knows what he is doing by now. He wouldn't put eminem out there if
he sucked!
Dj Slyde
Although Eminem has some neat rhymes, that doesn't rule out that he is one of
the most irritating Rapper of 1999. Both of his singles are played out. Who
knows what's next, he might even be added to the most irritating and played out
songs of all time list along with Jennifer Lopez and retarded Smash mouth.

Tupac is as weak as they come...

5/19/96
Tupac ia the weakest rapper I have seen. His older albums where good.
2Paclips(misspell) and Strictly for my N.I.G.G.A.Z where both excellent
albums. But then came Dear Mama the softest shit I have heard, what a
crossover from hardcore to pure softy ladies man. What kind of shit is
that man, what a sellout. And now mister big party guy, every dance club
is playing his shit, let's se how good mister 150 pounds I'll kick
anybody's ass will do without Dr.Dre the only reason why Death Row ever
became what it is today. Death Row is about to get the chair and there
all going down except for the only wise one Dre. All you at Death Row
keep sucking Suge's dick, you Death Row slaves.
I think you're full of shit, partner. First of all, learn to spell before
penning any dissing article. What's with all the stick to one
style-hardcore these days? Like LL Cool J said, all you probably need is
a father and a hug in your life. "Dear Mama" was meant to be a tribute to
the queens of the world in case you don't have one, you ignorant imbecile.
In case you didn't know the hardest people all over from the Capones to
the Bogarts all had their soft sides, and there's no shame exposing it
because we're all human. Just to let you know, his versatility with the
times is what's kept him selling not your peanuts. And yeah, a little
reality check, the first two albums that you so called preferred didn't
sell nearly as much as the later ones. Phony fans are not what we need in
the hip hop game. Peace.
Fuck that guy. He is a sellout first he goes beating up women then he
comes out all soft trying to get back his bitch audience. If you didn't
notice blind ass fool!
Fuck you so bitter for?! If Pac is so weak, and Death Row is so shitty
without Dre, why you wastin' yo time writing about it? To answer your question,
Pac will be right back where he was before him and Dre hooked up (provided he
can keep his ass out of the pen). Dre ain't make 2pac. Dude has been
established and for the most part respected because he real and he make his
presence felt. How real can you get than giving thanx to ya mama? If you just
sit back and listen to alot of his shit, you'll see he got a hell of a lot more
shit to say than most mothaphuckaz. Even on "All Eyez..." he got "I Ain't Mad
Atcha. Tell me you don't feel that shit! His new tape ain't nothin like his old
stuff, true, but it's still phat. Personally, I'm kind of indifferent to Death
Row itself, but I like Snoop and the Pound is straight. My point is if you gon'
come for somebody, at least come with somethin legit...

Out,

Li'l Magic

5/24/96
I agree. Death Row rappers are the lousiest, fakest, weakest, most bitch-ass
bunch of faggot studio gangsters I have ever seen. But...

They're good businessmen. And isn't what this whole shit is about? Making
money? People can talk bout being real and this and that all they want, but in
the end, people are going to like what they're going to like. This is what
essentially gave Death Row the edge over Ruthless. While Ruthless was
concentrating on being real, being picky on who they sign to their label,
going outside of California into Cleveland and Miami and what not in search of
"real, hard core gangsters," Death Row was concentrating on the music itself,
developing new acts and attracting old ones. So, yeah, they are weak,
bitch-ass sellouts, but they're getting things done.

6/5/96
tupac is weak...this is true...and all he does is talk all this shit about
the west coast and the west side... that fronting bitch was on the easst
coast and the south side of baltimore....he was kinda tight before he got
picked up by death row..now he's a punk..

Review: Greatest Rap Show Ever

1/7/92
Well here's my review of the "The Greatest Rap Show Ever" concert
I attended on January 3, 1992. In a word it was SLAMMIN'.
After the City College incident most folks were reluctant to go to the
concert but I said hey Madison Square Garden isn't a college gym.
So me and my people went for it.
First up was Leaders of the New School. The fellas went off.
They did "Sobb Story" "P.T.A." and one other rap. The crowd
responded to them well. A second later they came back on with
A Tribe Called Quest and they did the rekkid they made with TCQ.
Don't know the name of it off hand but I'm sure someone out there does.
Then TCQ did "Check the Rhime" and the crowd went totally mad
(me included 8-). People were screaming the lyrics so loud you
could hardly hear Tip and Phife. They also performed "Kick It".
Then they jetted. They didn't do "Butter" "Jazz" "Bonita Applebaum" "Left My Wallet in El Segundo" or any of their other slammin' stuff.
I was very disappointed.
Next up was my sista' Queen Latifah. What can I say, I'm a mega
fan of La La and IMHO the woman "Tore Shit Up." She really knows
how to move a crowd. She did "Ladies First" "FlyGirl" "Latifah's
Had It Up To Here" and a few others. All in all I give her
performance 2 million thumbs up. She told the folks "You came here
in PEACE so leave please here in PEACE." So very true.
Naughty By Nature was up next. The brothers were all dat and
a bag of chips, pretzels and Doritos. They gave the second best
performance. They had the crowd movin'. No one sat down the
whole time while they were on stage. They performed "1-2-3" "Ghetto"
"Wickedest Man Alive" with Queen Latifah, "OPP" and a few others.
Treach did this acappella thang that gave me chills, the brother
can flow.
Next up Kid N Play. Can we ALL say weak. They got booed from the
very beginning. No props at all for these brothers. No one could
get wit them. They had Kid Capri and Prince Messiah as DJs (a plus for them)
and anyone who is in the know about Kid Capri and Prince Messiah
know how incredibly dope+++++ these brothers are. Kid and Play got
booed so much that Kid Capri and Prince Messiah had to hype the crowd up,
so right in the middle of Kid N Play's set, Kid Capri and
Prince Messiah did some devastating mixing of old old old school stuff and
some new school thangs to get the crowd moving again.
Kid N Play ran off stage to change their clothes....were they serious.
Who cared about what they were wearing this is RAP people not a Hollywood
movie, get a GRIP!!!! When they came back on stage people were yelling
for Kid Capri and Prince Messiah. They got dissed really bad.
Well then we got to see the Geto Boys perform. I'm not a fan of the Geto
Boys and from the look of it most people weren't. They didn't get booed though and they did give a really good performance. Since I don't know any of
their rekkids I believe they performed a rap about the Gulf War and
something about a Mr. Scarface. They did perform "My Mind Playing
Tricks on Me" and that really got the crowd movin'. Now I have
to give the Boys major props because at then end of their
set they gave a shout out to my hometown, Asbury Park, New Jersey. 8-)
Last but never least was Public Enemy. What can I say about PE that
hasn't already been said. The brothers were sensational. Chuck, Flav,
Terminator, and S1Ws were at their best. They performed lots of
stuff off the their new album and some old favorites like "Night of the Living
Baseheads" and "Bring the Noise". They gave the best performance overall.
Some last notes. DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince didn't show up but
who cares.
Before PE came on Heavy D came out on stage and ask everyone
to give a moment of silence for the 8 brothers and 1 sister that
died at the CCNY incident, and asked that we all keep the PEACE because
we only got each other. Now while Heav was saying these profound words
a bunch of young brothers beat the hell out of the one kid right in
front of my seat. I have never seen anyone get beat up like this
before in my life, it was 7 against 1. Where were the so called
security guards, or should I call them USHERS. They was standing back
with their dumb mouths wide open... Now they had plenty of New York's
finest outside Madison Square Garden instead of inside where they were need.
Finally the crowd started yelling for them to stop and the brothers ran off.
Later when we were leaving (I left a little early to avoid any further
trouble) we saw blood everywhere and the kid was being wheeled off
in an ambulance. I cried, it's a damn shame that we can's have anything
with out some trouble starting. Let me get off my soapbox now.
Anyway....check, check, check it out if this tour hits your city. It's was
well worth it....
I'm out.... by the way Tundrea..you can git wit this or you can git wit
dat..I think you'll git wit this cause this is where it's at!!!

So I imagine there were more people.without access to a PC at home much less the internet then

..
Meaning most of these posts were from middle.class(white) people and never relevant in the first place....imo

I got on the internet kinda late, around 1999. I was about 25 years old.

Anyway, I started fequenting the DaveyD message board around 2001, in the middle of the Jay vs Nas beef, when Eminem was just coming up. 50 Cent wasn't out yet. I can remember when people used to make threads about your top 10 MCs and a lot of things ain't happened yet.

For example, Jay wasn't in my top 10 because I thought Nas ethered him and there was no way he could come back.

Biggie and Pac's deaths were still fresh and the smoke hadn't cleared yet.

KRS and Rakim were at the tail end of their peak. I can remember when KRS was beefing with Nelly and I thought KRS was going to body him, but the reverse happened.

Those are all from Usenet newsgroups. 99.999% of the people on usenet were heavy nerds or college kids who would likely never log in again after graduation or dropping out, same for IRC.

Crazy that Google archived all that shit.

Back around '97-98 I was posting on undergroundhiphop.com and sohh.com. I actually had an account on the IC whenever the forum started (98/99?) 'cause it got mentioned on ughh but after a while I started posting elsewhere, forgot my login, and just stopped going until coming back in 2010.
