Some of ya'll know I like ancient history, particularly African history, though I really do like it all.

Shout out to the Nubians beating the top dog Romans while being led by a warrior queen. You'll never hear about that in school.

Not to mention Nubians also had pyramids. Honestly Roman history mentions Eastern Africa for trade all the time but that good ole racism.

Arturo Alfonso Schomburg (January 24, 1874 – June 10, 1938) Santurce, Puerto Rico

While Arturo was in grade school, one of his teachers claimed that black people had no history, heroes or accomplishments. Inspired to prove the teacher wrong, Schomburg determined that he would find and document the accomplishments of Africans on their own continent and in the diaspora. He would go on to co-found the "Negro Society for Historical Research" in 1911 which for the first time brought together Africa, West Indian, and Black American scholars works . By the 1920's Arturo had put together a collection which consisted of artworks, manuscripts, rare books, slave narratives and other artifacts of. In 1926 the New York Public Library purchased his collection for $10,000 with the help of a grant from the Carnegie Corporation. The collection formed the cornerstone of the Library's Division of Negro History in Harlem. The library appointed Schomburg curator of the collection, which was named in his honor: the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture

Yeah, East Africa had a lot of trade with West Africa too. Things were going on in West Africa even way back then, but we don't know much about it.

The Benin Wall is interesting too. It was actually bigger than the Great Wall of China, but the British tore it down.
