Currently, most cultures are turning to black music and dance as a timely celebration of pop culture. This includes whites, Asians, and Latinos appropriating hip hop and R&B in popular music.

Shit, comics in the hood was a real thing back in the 80's. Niggas knew who the X Men, Avengers, Hulk and all them were, used to argue if Hulk was stronger than Thor and all that shit. Also in the 80's, at least in Saginaw and Detroit, niggas was all up on Battle of the Planets (real name Science Ninja Team Gatchaman), Voltron, Robotech, Tranzor Z, Macron One, and at some point in '89, the original Dragon Ball ran on channel 66 in Detroit plus a bunch of other shit I'm forgetting.
We watched that shit like everything else.
