What’s more interesting is that Mitt Romney is included. Is this a ploy to get Romney on his side? I’m not familiar with the others, but if they are critical of Trump then he’s definitely trying to sway the jury before the trial.

Rand Paul kisses Trump’s ass at every turn so he’s probably there to demonstrate proper ass-kissing technique.

Romney has shown himself in the past to not being above whoring himself out to Trump.

Trump's basically gathering all the republicans who have been iffy about him in the past on one thing or another and either threatening them or bribing them. Probably a little of both.

The shit is telling either way though. Him scared.
 
Now they’re saying they talked very little about impeachment at the lunch, but more on vaping, trade, etc., but you have to wonder why those specific senators came. I know Romney and Collins don’t really fuck with Trump. They really be insulting our intelligence.

Also Grassley is the one who went against him publicly on outing whistleblowers since I think he co-sponseored that legislation.

WH Accuses Dems Of Having ‘Sick Hatred’ For Trump Amid Public Impeachment Hearing

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham lashed out at Democrats on Thursday as another public impeachment hearing was underway.

“The Democrats’ [sic] are clearly being motivated by a sick hatred for President Trump and their rabid desire to overturn the 2016 election,” Grisham said in response to the hearing. “The American people deserve better.”

She also claimed that the witnesses, former National Security Council official Fiona Hill and State Department official David Holmes, “rely heavily on their own presumptions, assumptions and opinions.”

Though the hearing is still ongoing, Hill and Holmes have already further torpedoed President Donald Trump’s defenses for the Ukraine scheme.

Holmes testified that he had overheard a call between Trump and Ambassador Gordon Sondland, during which the President asked Sondland about the status of the “investigations” into Joe Biden that he wanted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to announce.

Hill took aim at Trump and other Republicans’ conspiracy theory that Ukraine, not Russia, was responsible for the 2016 election interference.

Report: White House And Senate GOPers On Board For Full Impeachment Trial

Top White House officials and Senate Republicans have reportedly reached an agreement to hold a full trial if the House votes to impeach President Trump.

According to a Politico report Thursday, multiple people familiar with the matter said that White House officials and Republican senators agreed to not dismiss articles of impeachment outright.

White House advisers Jared Kushner and Kellyanne Conway, along with White House legal counsel Pat Cipollone, reportedly met with Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Ron Johnson (R-LA), Mike Lee (R-UT), Ron Johnson (R-WI), and Tom Cotton (R-AR) on Thursday morning to discuss impeachment strategy now that the House impeachment investigation is nearly over.

Despite how some on the right attempted to push Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to ditch the notion of a fair trial earlier this month, two attendees told Politico that the White House wants the Senate to hold a trial and to not cut it short.

One attendee added that the White House and Trump’s GOP allies “want some kind of factual affirmative defense on the merits,” according to Politico.

Earlier Thursday, McConnell said that “we’ll be ready” for an impeachment trial “if it comes over here” after “the action is all over in the House,” according to CNN.

On Monday, McConnell doubled down on his stance that he “can’t imagine a scenario” where the Senate would vote to remove Trump from office.
