If you don't mind my asking, why are you separated but not divorced? Is it legally required to be separated for a period of time where you live or something?

If you don't mind my asking, why are you separated but not divorced? Is it legally required to be separated for a period of time where you live or something?

Things are a little more difficult when there are children and property involved.

Its just a headache that we've both procrastinated on.

It doesn't cause too much of a problem seeing as though we live apart and neither of us are currently in serious relationships with other people (anymore) at the moment.

I just cringe every time I have to check a box that I am in fact married.
