Impact Wrestling Kicks Out Fan At NYC TV Tapings

Wrestling Inc. was informed by an attendee at last night's Impact Wrestling TV tapings (spoilers here) in New York City that security had thrown out a fan due to yelling, recording the matches, and pushing on the barricade.

Below is a report of what happened:

"A fan was standing up in the front row, yelling random things all night, putting down every match and every move. He's pushing on the barricade and it's pushing against Don Callis' back. He gets asked to sit down. While he's sitting down, he's just holding his phone in front of his face and he's clearly recording the entire time. After the match, he gets asked to put the phone away because there's no recording. He says on the ticket there is nothing that states that. He's given three to four warnings in the same conversation and he's not listening. Then, Atlas Security kicks him out and the entire crowd cheers and sings, 'Na, na, na, hey, hey, goodbye.'"

It was unclear what exactly the fan was yelling or to whom, no issues were reported after the fan was removed. Below is video of him being removed.

This occurrence happened on the cusp of last weekend's Bully Ray incident when a fan was sought out by security at a Ring of Honor event. The individual was brought to the back where he had a quick conversation with Bully Ray(then sent back to his seat) after he had some exchanges with members of The Allure (Velvet Sky, Mandy Leon, and Angelina Love).

Pentagon Jr. And Fenix Moved To IMPACT Wrestling's 'Alumni' Page

The Lucha Bros. are no longer on the active roster page for IMPACT Wrestling.

Former IMPACT World Tag Team Champions Pentagon Jr. and Fenix have been moved to the alumni page on IMPACT Wrestling's official website. The duo did not compete at the latest set of IMPACT TV tapings in Queens, New York. Their profiles being moved to the alumni page was first spotted via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Juice Robinson Finished With ROH, NJPW Talent Don't Want To Work With Them

Plus Davey Boy Smith Jr. ends time in Japan.

It looks as though Juice Robinson's time with Ring Of Honor may have come to an end. According to the Voices of Wrestling Patreon podcast - which you can support here - Robinson, who two weeks back lost his NJPW US Championship to a debuting Jon Moxley, is said to have been unhappy with the company and has asked to not be booked in the future.

The former CJ Parker joined Ring Of Honor last year alongside Dave Finlay, as well as a posse including Bandido, Mark Haskins, Tracy Williams and Tenille Dashwood, collectively known as 'Lifeblood'. With Juice squeezed out, it's unclear what the direction for the stable is going forwards.

Robinson isn't the only man in New Japan unhappy with ROH. Lanza and Rich further discussed that talent in Japan's top promotion no longer want to be associated with the indie, as it undermines their appeal.

Ring Of Honor's status within the wrestling world has been dramatically displaced thanks to the emergence of All Elite Wrestling, with many top talent departing for Tony Khan's group.

One man who could be ROH-bound in the near future is Davey Boy Smith Jr., as he seeks fresh pastures after reportedly finishing up his duties with NJPW. Though it's unknown whether Smith choose to walk or was pushed, he has been very vocal about his creative frustrations with New Japan in recent days.

More Details On Why Davey Boy Smith Jr Isn’t Working With NJPW, Problems NJPW Has With Impact Wrestling

As we reported over the weekend, Davey Boy Smith Jr is said to be done with New Japan Pro Wrestling, as he hasn’t been booked since March and had previously complained about them online. In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer had more details about Smith’s exit and what led up to it.

Meltzer said that part of the reason was because that Smith wanted to go to Impact Wrestling and NJPW told him that he couldn’t and there was “miscommunication over that.” When Smith couldn’t go to Impact, he later asked about bookings and was asked if he was going to Impact.

As for why he was told no, Meltzer said: “They’re still mad at Impact over Okada. I remember Scott D’Amore went there one year at the Tokyo Dome, and it was a couple of years ago, and it’s just like, ‘it’s all new, all those people are gone, you know, we’re sorry about what happened with Okada,’ and they still have the mentality like, ‘these are the people that couldn’t figure out what to do with Okada.’ In hindsight, it does look pretty bad.

https://uproxx.com/prowrestling/njpw-announced-competitors-blocks-2019-g1-climax/2/

In A Block, we have:

  • Kazuchika Okada (IWGP Heavyweight Champion)
  • Zack Sabre Jr. (RPW British Heavyweight Champion)
  • Hiroshi Tanahashi
  • Kota Ibushi
  • Evil
  • Sanada
  • Bad Luck Fale
  • Lance Archer
  • Will Ospreay (IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion)
  • KENTA
In B Block, we have:

  • Tetsuya Naito (IWGP Intercontinental Champion)
  • Tomohiro Ishii (NEVER Openweight Champion)
  • Juice Robinson
  • Toru Yano
  • Hirooki Goto
  • Jay White
  • Jeff Cobb
  • Shingo Takagi
  • Taichi
  • Jon Moxley (IWGP United States Champion)
This is a much different field from G1 Climax tournaments of the past few years. Multiple wrestlers who were in G1 Climax 28 now work for other companies – Michael Elgin for Impact and Hangman Page and former tournament winner Kenny Omega for AEW. One half of the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and a past G1 entrant in Tama Tonga is also absent from this year’s tournament, in kayfabe to focus on the tag division. Yoshi-Hashi, who wrestled in the last three G1s, is another performer sitting this one out.

G1 Climax 29 also doesn’t include some popular veteran wrestlers who have competed in the tournament within past few years and never declared a certain G1 would be their last: Togi Makabe, Satoshi Kojima, and Minoru Suzuki. Some might be surprised at the absence of Chris Jericho as well, but when he mentioned he might be in the G1 backstage at Dominion it sounded more like his characteristic riffing/trolling than an actual declaration.

All these absences have made room for G1 debuts while keeping the tournament at the 20-man size that has become the norm this decade. New Japan newcomers/former WWE Superstars KENTA and Jon Moxley will make their G1 debuts along with former NEVER Openweight Champions Taichi, Jeff Cobb, and Will Ospreay. Both Ospreay (the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion) and the G1-debuting Shingo Takagi haven’t officially departed the junior heavyweight division yet, but have goals to find success as truly “openweight” competitors.

G1 Climax 29 also features two wrestlers who could be described as “returning” in different ways. Lance Archer, whose tag partner in the Killer Elite Sqad reportedly parted ways with NJPW recently, is in the tournament for the first time since 2014. This is the twelfth consecutive G1 for Hirooki Goto, but he’s been off of NJPW programming aside from the ROH/NJPW War of the Worlds tour since he lost the main event of Wrestling Hi no Kuni to Jay White in April.

Goto’s chance for revenge against White in B Block is one of several matches with heat behind them going into the tournament. Juice Robinson will have another chance against the man who took his United States Championship, Moxley, and last year’s tournament finalists, Kota Ibushi and Hiroshi Tanahashi, will face off again in A Block. In addition to other matches between established rivals, both blocks include L.I.J. vs. L.I.J. violence, something that hasn’t happened since last year’s G1, with tag partners Evil and Sanada in A Block and a first-time matchup of Naito vs. Takagi in B.

Another block match to watch out for – one some people might have thought could be the final – is Okada vs. the Ibushi character for the first time since NJPW’s 42nd Anniversary Show in 2014, when they wrestled an IWPG Heavyweight vs. Junior Heavyweight Champion match.
